I was lucky enough to have my mom come visit me again and my sister was able to join her for the first time. It was incredible to have them both together. I felt so full of love and relaxation. It made Taiwan feel more like home. As an immigrant, it doesn’t always feel like home, some days it feels like I just arrived and other days I just go with my normal routine. It just feels surreal sometimes even though I have been here for a long time.<\/p>\n

When they arrived it was late so we hit up a Family Mart and crashed hard. The first few days we spent in Taipei doing various things. I was able to celebrate my birthday with them.<\/p>\n

Spending my birthday with people I love and care about was amazing. It was even better that Yenni was able to get our friend together and have a surprise party for me. Great food, equally amazing drinks and so much laughter made for an unforgettable 31st birthday.<\/p>\n

We hit up the Alice in Wonderland exhibition on their 3 day after going to the Jade Market. If you know of Concord, NC you know nothing like this ever comes there. This was a great treat for them and I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did.<\/p>\n

After the exhibition, we got foot massages and dumplings and took it easy. We woke up and headed to Kaoshiung. It was really warm but we survived. I met a friend who lives there from college and we went to dinner, hit up Pier 2, ate at the Magic Spoon which was a great place for brunch, and went to Rueifong Night Market. This market is cool but it’s really narrow and crowded. They had fun and it was my sisters first night market experience. They got to try some good food here. We also went to the Dragon and Tiger pagoda’s. I have always wanted to do that and I’m glad I spent that with my family.<\/p>\n

We spent a short time in Kaoshiung and headed back to my home sweet home. In Taichung they were busy but I think enjoyed being in an actual home vs. a hotel.
\nWe took them to Lukang, they got some gua sha, went to Hanxi night market for stinky tofu, Rainbow Village and just general hanging out, eating and shopping.<\/p>\n

When they left I was exhausted and it felt like a dream. The time went too fast as it always does with family. I hope they will be able to come back soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
